Located a short 15 minutes drive from Kumbhalgarh Fort is the Hammeripal Lake. This lake is home to thousands of African Catfish. Visitors coming to this lake can buy local snacks and feed the same to the catfish. Watching so many of these fishes scramble for food is unique site. The lake is located in a quiet area with a Benaras style ghat built around it. You can also see some old temples and structures while at the lake. The lake has been named after its maker, Rana Hammir Singh of the Sisodia clan.
Although the lake is open for visitors throughout the day, we recommend that you go while the sun is up to get a good look at the fish. Fishing or harming the fishes is strictly prohibited. In addition, there is no barrier or fence leading upto the lake. Therefore, all tourists are requested to take precautions while visiting this location.
