Deccan Odyssey: Luxury on Wheels

Modelled on the ‘Palace on Wheels’ (Rajasthan’s famous and very special luxury train), the Deccan Odyssey is a unique way to experience the Konkan coast of India. In fact, the concept train has led to a tremendous rise in tourism in the area. Commencing the journey in Mumbai, the train travels to Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, and Ajanta-Ellora before returning to Mumbai.

The Deccan Odyssey redefines the concept of luxury in motion. The train is akin to a 5-star hotel on wheels, with two restaurants and a bar, a spa and sauna, a business centre and an array of other world-class amenities on board. The train has 10 fully air conditioned Deluxe Cabin Saloons, each with 4 twin bedded chambers as well as 2 fabulous Presidential Suite Saloons. The Presidential Suites have a bedroom as well as a living room. All Saloons are equipped with channel music, intercoms, DVD players as well as personal attached toilets with all the amenities essential for your comfort! Add to this a multi-cuisine restaurant, a well-stocked bar, a comforting spa and a massage cabin onboard and you know that you’re being treated well!

The Deccan Odyssey India takes its guests on a unique journey through the hills, plains and beaches of Maharashtra in true luxury. Romance, adventure, luxury and style are the defining aspects of the Deccan Odyssey and contribute to an exhilarating experience that every voyager cherishes.

The journey begins at one of the most stunning British-era buildings in India, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai and takes the traveller to the sun-kissed beaches of Goa, enigmatic Ajanta & Ellora caves and the ancient and holy city of Nasik. You also get to behold a host of other forts and palaces in the ancient Maratha Kingdom.

The Deccan Odyssey is now one of the best 25 luxury trains in the World, an honour which it has won thanks to the dedicated efforts of the people who operate this train. Last year, the train was fully refurbished to improve the journey experience of the guests. Deccan Odyssey now plans to expand. From October 2012 to April 2013, Deccan Odyssey would be operating on pan-India Tours along with Maharashtra tours. The new route will be Mumbai, Aurangabad, (Ellora), Ajanta, Udaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Agra, Delhi and back to Mumbai.

Deccan Odyssey offers a truly enamouring ride meanders through the Konkan coast and Deccan region in Maharashtra. The 7 nights and 8 days of the journey make for an experience of lifetime.
