Rajasthan during Winter

Everyone knows that Rajasthan experiences one of India’s highest temperatures. The searing heat and the desert sand mean that it is going to be much more enjoyable in the winter. The winter season is therefore an ideal time to visit to travel to Rajasthan. This is the best time to enjoy the outdoors activities of the region and visit its monuments and lakes. Once you have had your fill of Rajasthan’s heritage and natural splendour, you can divert your attention to the following specific experiences that you can savor only in the winter.

The Winter Festival of Mount Abu

Mount Abu is Rajasthan’s only hill station and it is incredibly popular for those looking for respite from the heat and the urban hustle-bustle. It is also the site of the annual Winter Festival held in December’s last week. This is when Mount Abu is most colorful and lively as hundreds of tourists flock to the hill station for the three day festival. The festival begins with a ceremonial procession that gathers at Nakki Lake Chowk and witnesses folk performances from artists across Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana, along with native performers. Tourists will also enjoy music, boat and skating races, great food, and the fireworks that mark the close of the festival.

Party season begins in December

Not many visiting Rajasthan from outside know this, but both locals and visitors are increasingly flocking the many local lounge bars and pubs in the city of Jaipur. After a week of sightseeing, eating native food, and exploring the culture, one might also want to experience more youthful indulgences like pubbing and dancing. For local youth, this gives them the excitement of the big city life. Since winter sees the most visitors in the region, this is the best time to hit the pubs. Rajasthan has a lot of premium hotels, and most of them have their own lounge bars for both, the guests staying on the premises and the visitors.

Bird watching

For nature lovers and bird watchers, the winter is an amazing time to be outdoors. The weather is not oppressively hot and the cold weather is enjoyable. It is also a great time for bird watching. One of the most famous spots for bird-watching is the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (renamed the Keoladeo National Park), a famous World Heritage Site. Over 200 species of birds reside here and many migratory birds make an annual journey to this reserve. It is also conveniently near Jaipur city.

Exploring Jaipur in All Its Glory

Jaipur can get scorching hot during summers and monsoons are usually difficult to move around. Winter, however, is a great time to be in Jaipur. It’s the one season during which one can enjoy the regal city of Jaipur to its fullest. The spectacular views offered by the ancient monuments of the city fascinate the visitors. The city also hosts numerous cultural events round the year and one can explore Rajasthani culture in great detail. For food-lovers too, Jaipur has a lot to offer in terms of sweets and other dishes.
