The Department of Tourism, Rajasthan has recently begun organizing a grand “Ranakpur Festival”, which took place from 10th to 13th November in 2011. The festival comprises holy chanting, cultural programmes, conventional Kathak performances and classical Bharat Natyam performances. The cultural programs commenced at the ancient Surya Temple within the Ranakpur Jain Temple complex.

Bharat Natyam was performed by Justin McCarthy and Sudeep on the 10th, Kathak by Shobna Narayan on the 11th, Bhajans by Shubha Mudgal on the 12th, and performances by Rajasthani folk artists on the 13th. Beyond all this, free jungle safaris were organized for all guests of the festival, and other attractions like food and crafts bazaar were also arranged for.

The event brought Ms. Shubha Mudgal, one of the most famous Hindustani classical musicians and singers of contemporary times; to the newly opened Mana Hotels property in Ranakpur; and it was truly our delight to serve her. Ms. Mudgal was gracious enough to pose for a few photographs with other guests of the hotel.
