train safari train ride

Train Safari1An experience not to miss in Rajasthan is a genuinely local ninety minute train ride from Phulad to Khamblighat. This wonderful hidden train journey is located about 2 hours from Mana Hotels in Ranakpur. Originating from Phulad station and terminating at Khambli Ghat station, this 90 minutes journey gives the passengers a peak into the history of this area aside from offering great views of the Aravallis. If you are lucky, you may even spot some wildlife such as Langoors, Peacocks and Deer’s.

Train Safari2This train cuts right through one of the most rugged, the Aravalli mountains, with the help of some spectacular British engineering left intact from 1835! Word is that Rajasthan tourism is eying this train to be developed into a tourist one. One can find many French tourists cramming into the Phulad station, from where the mountains begin.

Train Safari3

If you want to catch glimpses of the train snaking through and get some good pictures, stick to the right side of the train after Phulad. The feeding frenzy by the non aggressive Langur Monkeys are seen to be believed. They are quite friendly and chilled out, eating biscuits, sipping cool drinks etc. Also you can find the glimpses of Peacocks and Deers. This is why this journey is called Train Safari, by the tourism industry.

This is a meter gauge line and also one of the highest tracks in the western railway system of India. The landscape is dramatic and does not stay constant. There is a good mix of steep hills, flowing water and plains.

The journey cuts through some of the most inhospitable and untouched terrains. All in all a picturesque journey through a relatively unexplored part of Rajasthan.
