Aravalli Hills, Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Ensconced in the midst of the Aravalli hills, surrounded by lush green forests and crystal blue lakes, Udaipur offers a natural habitat for several wild animals, birds, reptiles and rodents. – It is therefore surrounded by numerous wildlife sanctuaries and reserves that are dedicated towards preserving the well being of this natural beauty. Amongst the important reserves and sanctuaries near Udaipur are the Kumbalgarh Wildlife Reserve and the Sajjangarh Wildlife Reserve.

Monsoon PalaceSajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 5 kms west of Udaipur and surrounds the Sajjangarh Palace overlooking the  City. This palace was used as the summer retreat for Mewar Kings and was widely known as Monsoon Palace, to watch the progress of monsoon clouds. Many tourists visit the palace for the breathtaking sunset views and the enthralling picturesque view of the Aravalli Mountains and Pichola Lake.

Sajjangarh sanctuary is home to sambars, wild boars, panthers, chitals, hyenas, jackals, panthers, hares, blue bulls and variety of reptiles and birds. A network of forest roads are built to reach different parts of the Safari Park. The major attraction and an ideal spot for picnic is an artificial lake named Jiyan Sagar, widely known as Bari Lake or Tiger Lake.

A great way to enjoy wildlife safaris at the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary Udaipur is to embark on a nature trek through the forested and craggy Aravalli hills from the Gorilla Point to the Tiger Lake through the Maharana Pratap nature trail. A temple of Lord Shiva is in close vicinity of this sacred grove. It is an ideal place to experience the effect of micro-climate with surrounded forest area by sitting at this place. During rainy season, the springs flowing through the area adds to the  beauty. The ancient fort, and lesser-known ruins located in the Sajjangarh forests will increase the excitement and fun manifold.
